Creation As Sustenance & Resistance
A collaboration workshop from Chicago Regional Organizing for Antiracism (CROAR) + Friendship Community Place
The current political climate in the U.S. has many of us feeling despondent, indignant and overwhelmed. It is important that in times like these we prioritize grounding ourselves and cultivating joy; our imagination can be an amazing resource for this. Engaging in collective and creative processes make a way for us to share our experiences, trials and visions; essentially allowing us to be known in ways that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. This gathering will provide opportunities to engage food, hospitality, art and music in ways that will cultivate the hope, fortitude and community that we need to continue to champion the restoration of all creation. We believe this time together will be a powerful medium to sustenance and resistance.

Visual Art-Making as Resistance - Activate & strengthen our imagination for the sake of disruption and creation. (12 spots)

Space Utilization Team Meeting
The Space Utilization Team is responsible for maintaining our space, planning creatively and strategically for the use of our space and implementing processes and policies for use of our space. Community Garden Planting Day
Join us out back to plant more native flowers and plants in our community garden! We’re planting vegetables and herbs for the first time as well. All levels of gardening experience are welcome to join us!

Finance & Investments Team Meeting
The Finance & Investments Team is responsible for the drafting of and oversight of annual budgets, regular accounting, our investment portfolio, financial planning, and stewardship and fundraising campaigns. God Talk on Tap
Grounded in curiosity we will gather monthly for dynamic conversations about how our theology and spirituality can be a lens through which we wrestle with our values and how they inform our day to day lives, ethics, politics and priorities. Good Friday with Via Crucis
Join Via Crucis and Friendship in Pilsen for a Good Friday Procession on April 3, 2026 at 9am, starting along 18th Street in Chicago.
This is a vibrant religious tradition rooted in Hispanic cultures, invites theological reflection on experiential learning, and builds community between participants.
This year, with increased threat of ICE, the community in Pilsen that is organizing the procession has asked for support as they bear witness to the procession of Jesus to the cross.

Volunteer Training
This training session will prepare you to volunteer for all of Friendship’s programming, including our weekly meal and opportunities for Community Care! You will learn the culture at Friendship and how we work with our community, and then Chef Andrew and Pastor Shawna will offer two breakout groups, one for Kitchen Safety and one for Community Care as we build out our volunteer teams for warming/cooling hours, community gardening and community events.

Neighbors for Affordable Housing Meeting
NFAH is a grassroots community group supporting affordable, accessible housing on Chicago’s Northwest Side, and beyond. Friendship Community Place and Friendship Presbyterian Church join NFAH to work towards making our community more accessible, inclusive, vibrant, and compassionate. FPC is a founding member of NFAH.
